Wayne Rooney’s winning free-kick in England’s 1-0 Euro 2016 qualifying win over Estonia has been made into a brilliant cartoon parody – with the Manchester United captain turned into a Shrek-resembling character.
Rooney ensured that Roy Hodgson’s Three Lions side maintained their 100 per cent record in their qualifying campaign for the European Championships after he netted a curling free-kickin the 73rd minute of the clash on Sunday.
And following his crucial strike, 44toons decided to create a cartoon in which Rooney – or rather Wayne The Ogre – goes from humble beginnings to national hero.
The comical parody depicts how Rooney leaves his mansion, meets up with his loyal sidekick Danny Welbeck – or Donkey – before being instructed by an owl named Hodgson to score against Estonia.
After creating The Fellowship of England alongside the likes of Jack Wilshere, Rooney successfully carries out his appointed task – to the delight of Three Lions supporters.
