Manchester United news and transfers: Cut price January moves for Nigel de Jong and Ron Vlaar?

The momentum is slowly turning in the favour of the Red Devils as Louis van Gaal has guided them to the top four after consecutive Premier League wins

Double Dutch: Could Man United make moves for De Jong and Vlaar in January?
Here's all the latest United stories from today's Daily Mirror...

All about the money

Real Madrid were forced to sell Angel di Maria to Manchester United because they could not afford to pay him.
Cristiano Ronaldo complained bitterly last month about Madrid selling the Argentine who was man of the match in last season’s Champions League final.
But manager Carlo Ancelotti has revealed the Spanish club refused to cave in to his financial demands before securing a British transfer record £59.7million from  Louis van Gaal’s side during the summer transfer windown.
Di Maria signed on for a basic £200,000 per week and is the club’s third highest-paid player behind Wayne Rooney and Radamel Falcao.
But Ancelotti said: “Di Maria? I was in agreement with the club. There are times when the club needs to say no."
