Leon Osman has sensationally revealed that he and Marouane Fellaini nearly had a fight after a 2-0 defeat to Liverpool.
Fellaini, 26, was at Everton from 2008 and left in 2013, joining Man United for a fee of £27 million. The Belgian international signed on at Everton for a then club record of £15 million and was an immense success at Goodison Park.
However, Osman has revealed the two had a heated encounter following a 2-0 defeat to Liverpool back in 2008. On that day, Liverpool won thanks to a brace from Fernando Torres.
Osman reveals that Fellaini was furious with him and the two came to blows.
The midfielder explained in his new book: “I remember the first derby he played in well – because we almost came to blows! It was after Liverpool beat us 2-0 at Goodison.
“Something happened late in the game after Tim Cahill had been sent off and back in the dressing room, Felli got in my face, pointing at me. I went mad at him and shouted: “Come on then! You and me outside now!” I was proper angry at him for trying to front me. Hibbo [Hibbert] got between us in the end.”
Fellaini, now of Man United is known as a wildcard due to his physical nature. Furthermore, some opposition players have criticised him for his aggressive displays.
But the midfielder who looked to be on his way out of Man United, may have made a place for himself in the Red Devils’ team. Fellaini started against Chelsea last weekend and is hoping he will start once more against Premier League champions Man City this weekend.
