Luke Shaw was a Chelsea supporter in his youth, thanks to his father, but his move to Manchester United has changed his old man’s allegiances.
The cardinal sin among football fans is to switch the team you support, however it understandable that a father would want his son to do well.
One would have imagined that Shaw senior would have been torn ahead of seeing his son take on the club he has supported on Sunday.
But there were no divided loyalties in the Shaw family as they saw Luke take on the Blues.
When asked whether a draw was the best of both world’s for his dad, Shaw responded: “No, no, no. My dad is a United fan now. He’s not Chelsea no more.
“He is a United fan now and he won’t be too happy because he wanted us to win really badly.”
He added: “My family are here and a couple of my mates got to watch so it’s great for them to come here and see the game today.
“Obviously, they were Chelsea supporters when they were younger so it’s a massive game for all of us and something I’ll remember.”
