Evans Adds to United Defence Crisis

Jonny Evans is facing up to a month on the sidelines amid fears that the Manchester United defender sustained ankle damage in the 5-3 defeat at Leicester City on Sunday.
Evans underwent a scan yesterday and initial results suggest that the Northern Ireland defender will be out of action until mid-October.
United medics will reassess the injury this week but if the early diagnosis is confirmed it will cause another defensive headache for Louis van Gaal, the United manager.
Phil Jones faces three more weeks out with a hamstring injury while Tyler Blackett will miss the match against West Ham United on Saturday due to suspension.
The collapse against Leicester exposed United's lack of options and leadership in defence, with Chris Smalling also struggling after his introduction as a replacement for Evans.
However, Luke Shaw is expected to finally make his competitive debut this weekend. The England international has recovered from a hamstring injury and is poised to end a frustrating start to his United career. The teenager was an unused substitute at Leicester after sustaining a tweak in his hamstring in the build-up to the game.
He has not played for United since his pounds 28?million move from Southampton and Van Gaal criticised his fitness during pre-season, handing him a personalised training programme. But Shaw is hoping to complete another full week of training.
Shaw's return, however, is likely to ensure pounds 16million signing Marcos Rojo plays as a left-sided centre-half on Saturday.
Meanwhile former United defender Rio Ferdinand has emerged as a surprise possible choice to be the Football Association's candidate for Britain's Fifa vice-presidential position.
The FA is drawing up a list of potential contenders after FA vice-chairman David Gill, the Manchester United director, ruled himself out.
Ferdinand is one of several names under consideration, according to an FA source, despite the fact that the former England defender is still playing for Queens Park Rangers.
Other former players who are being considered by the FA are Graeme Le Saux, Paul Elliott and David James.
