ARGENTINA goalkeeper Sergio Romero insists he did not turn down a move to Manchester United.

The 27-year-old, who helped his country reach the World Cup final this summer, was linked with a switch to Old Trafford.
Reports suggested Romero, currently of Italian outfit Sampdoria, rejected the opportunity to join Louis van Gaal's United revolution on deadline day.
But Romero told Radio Nacional: "Many lies have been spread, like, for example, that I refused a transfer to Manchester United.
"To me, something like that is crazy."
Romero was between the sticks for Argentina during that 1-0 final defeat to Germany in July.
That followed a hugely disappointing campaign on-loan at big-spending French club Monaco.
Romero spent the majority of the season as back-up to No.1 Danijel Subasic, managing only three league appearances.
His fortunes have not changed since returning to Sampdoria and he now finds himself behind Emiliano Viviano in the pecking order.
And Romero admits that he cannot be on the sidelines for too much longer.
"I can't do this for much longer," he added.
"The same thing happened to me in France - arriving a club when the transfer window is nearly closed and having to wait for an opportunity.
"I am happy at Sampdoria, though, and I will keep showing the coach that I am ready to play and that I don't want to keep sitting on the bench."
