Top Advisor: US Anti-ISIL Coalition Meant to Divert Attention from Israel's Defeat in Gaza
TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Parliament Speaker’s top adviser for international affairs Hossein Sheikholeslam underlined that the US-proposed coalition against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) terrorist group is a distraction to camouflage Israel's recent defeat in its war on Gaza.
"The statements made about forming an international coalition to destroy the ISIL in the region is aimed at mending the consecutive defeats of the West, the Zionists and their supporters in the region," Sheikholeslam told FNA on Wednesday.
He underlined that there is no doubt that the ISIL's crimes in the region have taken place in coordination with the West, Israel and their supporters, and said, "There is no way to believe that the US wants to destroy its illegitimate child."
Sheikholeslam reiterated that the US, Europe and the Zionists have never been serious about the ISIL, neither with regard to its creation, nor its destruction.
He noted that they want to divert the attention of the international community from the outcome of Israel's defeat from the resistance in the Gaza Strip.
On Tuesday, Sheikholeslam lashed out at the US for supporting the ISIL, and said that Washington's recent airstrikes on ISIL positions in Iraq was just a political showoff.
"In dealing with the ISIL, the US acts in such a way that it can make the people of the world forget about Palestine which is number one issue of the Muslim world," he told FNA.
He noted that there are no doubts that the ISIL is a US protégé, and said, "There is a lot of intel available in this regard."
The ISIL has been made by the US and the Americans have even trained this terrorist group in Jordan and Turkey, he reminded.
Sheikholeslam pointed to the so-called US international coalition against the ISIL, and said it is just a showoff and Iran will not cooperate with the US on this issue.
He reiterated that the ISIL is the continuation of the Al-Qaeda and the United States' so-called coalition is just propaganda.
