Liverpool are set to award England striker Daniel Sturridge for his impressive performances over the past year and a half by offering him a new contract to stay at Anfield.
Sturridge has progressed into an excellent Premier League striker since his move from Chelsea in January 2013 and is now Liverpool’s leading front man following the departure of Luis Suarez over the summer.
After netting 36 goals in 52 matches for the Reds across all competitions, Liverpool are said to be prepared to reward Sturridge with a new contract worth double his current wages, the Express reports.
According to the article, this would see him net around £140,000-a-week.
There also reports that Raheem Sterling is to be offered a new deal following his stellar performances for both club and country over the past year.
Both will be in the starting 11 to face Aston Villa on Saturday, providing Sturridge’s injury picked up over the international break doesn’t prove serious enough to rule him out.
