Reports: Louis van Gaal eyeing up a reunion with Arsenal academy coach Andries Jonker

Manchester United are interested in Arsenal’s head of academy coach Andries Jonker, reports the Daily Mail.
The 52-year-old has previously worked with Louis van Gaal with Netherlands back in 2000 and then he followed him to Barcelona, before linking up again at Bayern Munich back in 2009.

With Brian McClair leaving Old Trafford to take up a role with the SFA, the Red Devils are looking to make a move for Jonker to replace McClair as the head of Man United’s youth academy.

Jonker only joined Arsenal last season and has seen academy players like Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Stefan O’Connor breaking into the first-team. The youngsters featured for Arsenal in the second half of their win against Galatasaray in the Champions League.

However, Jonker could be ready to come to Man United as their new academy director and link up once again with Van Gaal.
The Man United manager is well known for his ability to develop and bring through young players. In the past, the likes of Xavi, Andres Iniesta, David Alaba, Edgar Davids and Patrick Kluivert were given their debuts by Van Gaal.
With Nicky Butt offered a role as interim coach, as reported by the Mail, we may have to wait until the end of the season to see if Jonker will leave Arsenal for Man United.
