A hearing for a match-fixing probe in which Ander Herrera may have been called to give evidence this coming Thursday has been postponed until the summer.
Having protested his innocence right from the very start, it will be a big relief for Herrera not to have to travel back to Spain between Manchester United's matches against Newcastle and Arsenal in order to give evidence.
It's good news for Herrera and speaking to the press on Tuesday ahead of the Newcastle match, Louis van Gaal felt the case may have been mentally affecting the Spaniard.
“The environment [around] a human being is very important,” he said.
“When it is like that he [Herrera] will be influenced.”
Given how good his form has been in recent weeks, it is hard to think that Herrera has been distracted by the impending case but he would have no doubt had one eye on the hearing.
However, now he is free to concentrate on Man United until the summer where he will still have to give evidence but at a more convenient time rather than between two matches.
With a tough run of fixtures against the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City coming up, United need Herrera at the top of his form.
Having been given consecutive starts in the last few games, Herrera has excelled and showed his importance to United, so fans are hoping he can continue that run of form with another strong performance tonight against Newcastle United.
