Brendan Rodgers said that it is ‘frightening’ to think how much man of the moment Philippe Coutinho was now worth on the transfer market.
The Brazilian midfielder, who was bought from Inter Milan for just £8.5million two years ago has been running the show from midfield recently, and a continued run of ‘sensational’ form has earned his manager’s highest praise.
According to the Mirror, the midfielder’s knack of scoring spectacular goals, including the winner in his side’s 2-1 victory over champions Manchester City on Sunday, has boosted his worth.
He said: “I think he’s a star in the Premier League already,” said Rodgers. “He joined us for £8.5m three years ago – it’s frightening to know what he could be worth now.”
He added: “He’s a joy to watch and now he’s started scoring goals. He’s a kid who has so much ahead of him in the game.”
