Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick insists Louis van Gaal’s side are fully prepared for their crucial game against Tottenham this weekend, reports the club’s official website.
United were knocked out of the FA Cup after losing to Arsenal at Old Trafford for the first time since 2006 on Monday, but they can’t afford to slip up against Tottenham in the Premier League on on Sunday.

The club’s main target this season is to secure a return to the Champions League, and they are currently in fourth place and on track to do so, although Liverpool, Tottenham, and Southampton are all in hot pursuit. Only four points separate the four clubs, and Tottenham would be level with United if they win this weekend.

United face Liverpool after taking on Tottenham, and Carrick believes the team are ready to get a result against his former team.
Speaking to MUTV, he said: “Every game from now to the end of the season is huge, particularly against teams that are in and around you [in the league table], and we’ve got a few of those games coming up. We’ll be ready for Sunday.”

Carrick has recently returned to fitness after missing five league games, and he has come on as a substitute in United’s last two fixtures. The 33-year-old has completed 90% of his passes and made 21 interceptions in the top flight this term.
His contract expires at the end of the season, though he remains an important member of the United squad, and the England international is expected to put pen to paper on a one-year extension in the near future, as reported by the Daily Mirror.
